		Meikle Obney Appaloosa Stud is incorporated within Meikle Obney Farm, an organic farm in Highland Perthshire growing barley, oats, potatoes, parsnips and carrots. At Meikle Obney we breed for conformation and temperament with colour being an added bonus. Our brood mares are selected by natural ability and good bloodlines. Appaloosa horses are known for their hardiness, even temperament and trainability. They are very versatile and great for use in any sphere, we find they are particularly good for jumping and endurance.
	Our horses do a mixture of endurance, showing, hunting and jumping. Our foals are all well handled and are used to people and machinery, they are able to box and good with the farrier before leaving our premises. All horses are subject to a monitored worming programme involving field rotation, cross grazing with cattle and sheep and worm counts. All horses are vaccinated and regular visits are made by the farrier. Appaloosas are a hardy breed and most of our horses winter on the hill above the farm without hard feed and unrugged.
